Approach

I have been working in the mental health field since 2005, and I find the best work is done when my clients and I build a strong alliance together in the service of their growth.  My approach is open and nonjudgmental, warm and collaborative, and tailored to meet my clients' needs based on their presenting concerns and goals for therapy.

I work with clients with a wide variety of diverse identities, and I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and affirming space to work meaningfully and with care.

Education and Background

I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley and my doctorate in clinical psychology from Gallaudet University, the world’s only institution of higher education serving D/deaf and hard of hearing individuals.  From university counseling centers to physical rehabilitation units, I have had the opportunity to work and train in a variety of settings with a wide range of individuals, each of which has enriched my personal and professional growth. My past experience includes:

  • Psychologist, Independent Practice (2015-Present)

  • Staff Psychologist, University of Southern CA Student Counseling Services (2012-2014)

  • Postdoctoral Fellow, Mount Saint Mary's College Counseling & Psych. Services (2011-2012)

  • APA Intern, University of Southern CA Student Counseling Services (2010-2011)

  • Extern, VA Long Beach Healthcare System (2010)

  • Extern, VA Medical Center Washington DC (2009)

  • Extern, Catholic University Counseling Center (2008-2009)

  • Extern, Arlington District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations (2008)

  • Extern, Georgetown University, Counseling & Psych Services (2007-2008)

  • Practicum Student, Gallaudet University Mental Health Center (2006-2007)

  • Practicum Student, Springfield Hospital Center, Deaf Unit (2006-2007)

I have lived in multiple countries and understand the challenges that often come with the expat and international living experience.

Prior to pursuing the field of Psychology, I worked in both the non-profit and corporate sectors. In the non-profit realm, I worked in development for an organization that funded retinal degenerative disease research and worked closely with constituents with eye diseases.  In the corporate realm, I worked in client services at a wealth management company.  I continue to draw upon these experiences in my current work.
